18th Century American Walnut Stepback Cupboard
Featuring 18 old glass panes in two doors, the upper case has three fixed shelves over three drawers and two raised panel doors in the base. Notice how nicely all the shelves work with the mullions in the doors. The lower hidden shelf raises items so that they are not hidden by the bottom of the door. This cupboard has it all: exposed dovetails, wooden peg and square nail construction using 20" wide boards, 5 1/2" heavily detailed crown, 4" bracket feet, reeded stiles, hand-turned mushroom knobs with wooden latches, and even a hidden shelf.
